KP chief minister’s remarks on terrorism termed misleading, as international reports, UN findings, and global experts cite Afghanistan as a hub of militant networks threatening Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The statement of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister regarding evidence of terrorism has been termed misleading and contrary to facts.
According to the report, the chief minister is allegedly attempting to deliberately create ambiguity in the national narrative against terrorism. His demand for evidence of terrorism originating from Afghanistan has been described as highly irresponsible and regrettable.
Pakistan has, on multiple occasions, provided the Taliban regime with credible and documented evidence of facilitating terrorist elements. The chief minister’s claim that other neighboring countries have not raised concerns about terrorism emanating from Afghanistan is also said to be factually incorrect.
It is widely acknowledged that Afghanistan has become a hub for terrorist organizations, and neighboring countries are frustrated by its security policies. Iran is expelling illegal Afghan migrants due to security concerns, while last year in Tajikistan, five Chinese workers were killed in two separate attacks linked to Afghanistan.
China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, has warned that terrorist groups, including the TTP, are active on Afghan soil and are involved in attacks on neighboring countries. The United Nations, human rights organizations, and international media have also labeled Afghanistan a center of terrorism based on documented evidence.
A recent report by the UN Security Council stated that banned terrorist organizations such as ISIS, TTP, Al-Qaeda, and Jamaat Ansarullah remain active in Afghanistan. The report highlighted that TTP attacks launched from Afghan territory pose a major threat to Pakistan.
Nation united to completely eradicate terrorism: Atta Tarar
In 2025, the TTP reportedly carried out nearly 600 attacks in Pakistan, many of which were thwarted by Pakistani security forces.
According to a report by the international journal Eurasia Review, Afghanistan has become a global safe haven for terrorists, with overwhelming and undeniable evidence. Since the Taliban takeover, the country has rapidly transformed into a center of international terrorism.
The report also noted that the killer of two National Guards in Washington, DC, was an Afghan national who had links with terrorist networks operating from Afghanistan.
Another international journal, The Diplomat, reported that Afghanistan has become a breeding ground for terrorists, with multiple militant organizations present there. It claimed that 70 percent of terrorist attacks in Pakistan involve Afghan nationals.
Global experts have stated that verified evidence and reports by international institutions clearly support Pakistan’s stance. They added that key leaders of militant groups, including Noor Wali, Bashir Zeb, and Gul Bahadur, are currently present in Afghanistan.
