Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says Rs38 billion Ramadan Relief Package 2026 is being distributed transparently through digital wallets, with 64 percent beneficiaries paid by 8 Ramadan.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that transparency is being ensured in the distribution of the Prime Minister’s Ramadan Relief Package 2026.
A review meeting on the package was held at the Prime Minister’s House under his chairmanship. Addressing participants, the prime minister said the Ramadan Relief Package 2026 has been formally launched with an allocation of Rs38 billion.
He stated that the financial assistance per beneficiary has been increased from Rs5,000 last year to Rs13,000 this year to support deserving individuals during the holy month of Ramadan, calling it the country’s largest and most comprehensive Ramadan relief initiative.
Shehbaz Sharif said that, building on last year’s successful experience, the package is being distributed through a transparent digital system. Financial assistance is being transferred directly to beneficiaries through digital wallets. He praised the performance of the institutions involved, noting that the digital mechanism ensures transparent and convenient delivery of funds while sparing people from long queues and protecting their dignity.
The meeting was informed that by the 8th of Ramadan, 64 percent of beneficiaries had received payments, while verification and processing for the remaining recipients is underway.
Participants were told that 12 banks and fintech companies are partnering with the government this year for distribution, and beneficiaries have conducted 1.1 million digital transactions so far.
Officials further shared that over 1.227 million automated calls have been made to raise awareness about the package. The initiative covers the entire country, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Real-time dashboards are being used to monitor payments and ensure transparency, while a comprehensive awareness campaign is ongoing across print, electronic, and social media.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Poverty Alleviation Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, and IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
Also present were Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme Senator Rubina Khalid, Governor State Bank Jameel Ahmad, and other senior officials.
