First total lunar eclipse of 2026 occurs today

First total lunar eclipse of the year to be visible today in Pakistan and worldwide. Peak at 4:34 PM, partial view expected at moonrise, says Meteorological Department.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The first total lunar eclipse of the year will occur today and will be visible in Pakistan as well as various regions around the world.
Sky watchers are expected to witness the celestial event as the moon passes through different phases of the eclipse throughout the day.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the lunar eclipse in Pakistan will begin at 1:44 PM.
The partial phase will start at 2:50 PM, while the total lunar eclipse will commence at 4:05 PM.
The eclipse will reach its peak at 4:34 PM. The total phase will begin to conclude at 5:03 PM, followed by the end of the partial eclipse at 6:17 PM.
The lunar eclipse will completely end at 7:23 PM.
At the time of moonrise in Pakistan, the eclipse will be partially visible, allowing observers to witness part of the phenomenon in the evening sky.
In addition to Pakistan, the lunar eclipse will also be visible in Asia, Australia, North and South America, along with other regions of the world.
