IHC seeks response from authorities on motorcycles M-Tag case
Pakistan
IHC has sought response from authorities within seven days regarding the M-Tag installation on motorbikes. The court emphasized vehicle tracking but acknowledged concerns over public inconvenience.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought a response from authorities within seven days regarding the administrative order to install M-Tags on motorbikes.
The petitioners had pleaded the court to immediately halt the M-Tag installation process, though no stay order was issued.
IHC Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar noted that the purpose of M-Tag is to track motor vehicles, and the system is intended to facilitate vehicle registration.
He emphasized that the measure is being introduced to ensure proper identification of motor vehicles.
While the petitioner’s lawyer argued that such an administrative order should be backed by legal mechanisms and laws, citing concerns about public inconvenience due to the M-Tag system, the court has directed that a detailed response be provided by the authorities.
