Met Office issues heatwave alert for Karachi

Summary The Heat Wave Early Warning Centre of the meteorological department added that heatwave conditions are likely to persist in central and upper parts of Sindh till May 3, 2026.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and dry weather in most districts of Sindh including Karachi, while the Early Warning Centre has issued a heatwave alert for central and upper parts of the province.

Meanwhile, the Heat Wave Early Warning Centre of the meteorological department added that heatwave conditions are likely to persist in central and upper parts of Sindh till May 3, 2026.

Under its influence the daytime maximum temperatures are likely to raise 4 to 6°C above normal in Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur, Naushehro Feroz, Jacobabad, Larkana and Sukkur districts.

The Met Office, in the alert, advised the general public especially children, women and senior citizens to take precautionary measures and avoid exposure to direct sunlight during the day time and stay hydrated.

Farmers are also advised to manage their crop activities including wheat harvesting while keeping in view the weather conditions and take care of their livestock as well.
