Summary Pakistan’s Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets in Karachi to sight Zilhaj moon
KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan is holding its meeting in Karachi to sight the moon of Zilhaj, marking the beginning of the Islamic month.
The session is taking place at the Met Office, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, with participation from central and zonal committee members, as well as experts from the Pakistan Meteorological Department and SUPARCO.
Officials stated that if the Zilhaj moon is sighted today, Eid al-Adha will be observed on Wednesday, May 27. Otherwise, the festival will fall on Thursday, May 28.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has also urged citizens to sight the Zilhaj moon on the evening of 30 Zil Qadah and report any confirmed sightings.
