BEIJING (Dunya News) - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Beijing on Monday. Wang Yi said that China warmly welcomes the visit of the Field Marshal to China.
Speaking on the occasion, Wang Yi said that the Pakistan Army has always played an important role in promoting China-Pakistan cooperation.
He said that no matter how the international and regional situation changes, China-Pakistan friendship has always remained rock-solid and unbreakable.
He expressed the hope that Pakistani military will continue to strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries. General Asim Munir also briefed China on the progress of mediation efforts in the United States-Iran conflict.
Pakistan indicated that a possible agreement between the United States and Iran may be nearing, while Wang Yi openly expressed support for Pakistan’s mediation and peace efforts.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held an informal meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang during an official ceremony in Beijing.
The interaction took place during a dignified reception held at the Great Hall of the People, where the Chinese premier warmly greeted Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir with a handshake.
The two leaders also exchanged views on matters of mutual interest during the brief meeting.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is currently accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his official visit to China aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and strategic relations between the two countries.
