Summary Mufti Taqi Usmani and Hanif Jalandhari were unanimously re-elected to lead Wifaq-ul-Madaris Pakistan for another five-year term.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani was unanimously re-elected as president of Wifaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan for a second consecutive term, while Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandhari was returned unopposed as secretary general for a seventh consecutive term.
The joint electoral meeting was held at Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi and attended by more than 1,000 members of the organization's executive council, consultative council and general body, along with prominent religious scholars, senior teachers, seminary administrators and social figures from across Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
During the meeting, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman proposed the name of Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani for the presidency and Maulana Hanif Jalandhari for the post of secretary general. Both candidates were unanimously elected unopposed for another five-year term.
According to a statement issued by Wifaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan, the executive council met on July 1, followed by the joint electoral session of the executive council, consultative council and general body on July 2. Special arrangements were made for accommodation, meals and security during the proceedings.
The organization said its consultative council comprises 358 members, while its general body consists of 1,623 members, representing thousands of religious seminaries across Pakistan.
