MURREE: (Dunya News) - A case has been registered against the driver of a school van following a tragic fire incident in Murree that claimed the lives of two children.
According to the FIR, the driver allegedly lit a cigarette while driving, after which the vehicle caught fire.
The report said petrol was kept in an open can under one of the van’s seats, which may have contributed to the blaze.
Two siblings, Ayesha Kaleem and Arham Kaleem, sustained serious injuries in the incident and later died. Seven-year-old Hassan, who was also critically injured, is currently receiving treatment at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.
The van was carrying 10 children at the time of the incident. According to the report, the vehicle did not have an issued route permit or fitness certificate.
Following the tragedy, the administration has intensified inspections, with strict checks of school vans and passenger vehicles now underway.
