Summary Bilawal Bhutto has questioned calls for new provinces, urging greater focus on governance and development while highlighting Thar’s progress and opposing divisive politics in Sindh.

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has questioned the reasoning behind demands for creating new provinces, arguing that the focus should instead be on improving governance and development.

Bilawal made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Phase III of the Thar Coal Block II expansion project.

Addressing the gathering, he said the progress achieved in Thar was being noticed across the country, adding that the region had made significant strides in development. He said Pakistan should learn from Thar’s experience and focus on achieving similar progress in other parts of the country, including Islamabad.

He remarked that if Islamabad had failed to deliver, it should instead be placed in the hands of people from Tharparkar. Bilawal said the objective should be to bring the same kind of development seen in Thar to Islamabad and other parts of the country.

The PPP chairman also criticized what he described as politics based on hatred and division in Karachi. He said efforts to promote such politics in Sindh would not succeed and expressed his determination to work toward ending divisive politics.

Bilawal also pointed to the academic achievements of students from Thar, saying that children from the region have increasingly secured top positions in the MDCAT examination. He said these accomplishments should be recognized and celebrated rather than being overshadowed by political divisions.

He further said Thar’s development would continue and rejected attempts to introduce what he described as divisive or hateful politics in Sindh.
