Summary Babar Saleem Swati said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly is ready to fully cooperate in efforts to build consensus to deal with terrorism.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati has written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif demanding the implementation of the joint declaration of the Aman Jirga 2025 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly.
The letter states that a special committee on security was formed with the approval of the provincial assembly. The committee contacted the provincial government, governor, political leadership, elected representatives, armed forces and other relevant security agencies.
In continuation of this consultative process, a peace jirga was held on November 12, 2025, in which more than 30 key members of political parties, elected representatives, and other relevant stakeholders participated.
After detailed deliberations, the Jirga adopted a joint declaration. The said joint declaration was also sent to the Prime Minister's Office for proper consideration.
According to the letter, detailed briefings were held from all relevant departments and institutions to obtain comprehensive information about the security situation.
The purpose of obtaining such briefings was not to interfere with the practical responsibilities of the security agencies, but rather to ensure that elected representatives were fully informed about matters that directly affect their constituencies and the public.
The Speaker said that the committee has prepared a report on the security situation in light of these briefings and the committee is actively in touch with the relevant parties to finalise the report.
The letter stated that after the report is finalised, it will be shared with the relevant parties as a guiding policy document. It is hoped that the report will be finalised after meaningful consultation and deliberation.
Babar Saleem Swati said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly is ready to fully cooperate in efforts to build consensus to deal with terrorism.
After the report is approved, it will be shared with the Prime Minister's Office for inclusion in the National Action Plan.
He expressed the hope that the Prime Minister's Office would provide support in every possible effort to build a lasting consensus for the establishment of sustainable peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
