DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Dunya News) - Four Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials and a police constable were martyred, while another policeman was injured in two separate firing incidents in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, police said.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed, armed attackers opened fire on FBR personnel near Abhaya Bridge, killing four officials. The bodies were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

In a separate incident, unidentified gunmen targeted a police van near Bannu Road, martyring one constable and injuring another. Police launched a search operation in the area following the attack.

The incidents come amid a recent rise in militant violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Earlier on Tuesday, five India-backed militants were killed and two others injured during an operation against militant hideouts in North Waziristan, according to security sources.

Pakistan recorded its highest monthly number of militant attacks in 12 years in September 2026, according to data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).
