LAHORE (Web Desk) - Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Friday for the forensic examination and analysis of his mobile phone, which was taken into the agency’s custody last month.

Rizwan was summoned under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure through a second notice seeking his cooperation in the forensic examination of the seized device.

According to sources, a four-member NCCIA investigation team questioned Rizwan. The team comprises a deputy director and three inspectors.

Rizwan had previously sought written details of the inquiry and requested the return of his mobile phone.

He has said the device was taken from him in England on August 31 during Pakistan’s Test tour and that he provided its password to officials. He also said the phone was examined in his presence.

According to Rizwan, officials had access to his unlocked phone when he appeared before the NCCIA on September 10, allowing them to review messages and other material.

The agency has contacted Rizwan several times seeking cooperation, while sources close to the cricketer said he had been seeking clarity on the proceedings and consulting his lawyer.

The inquiry reportedly concerns allegations related to online betting, gambling and the leaking of team information.
