Summary Indian hockey official Gurinder Singh Singha is sent home from Japan following alleged harassment complaints, pending an Asian Hockey Federation report.

NAGOYA (Dunya News) - Indian hockey umpire and technical official Gurinder Singh Singha has been sent back to India from Japan following multiple alleged sexual harassment complaints during the Asian Games.

According to Indian media reports, Gurinder Singh Singha allegedly behaved inappropriately with a female hockey official from Malaysia and a hotel employee during his stay in Nagoya.

A Hockey India official confirmed to Indian media that Singha was sent back to India two days ago after a Malaysian female official filed a sexual harassment complaint against him.

The official said necessary action would be taken against Singha after Hockey India receives a detailed report from the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF).

He said strict action would be taken if the AHF report contained adverse findings, adding that Singha would not be spared if found guilty.

The Asian Hockey Federation appoints umpires and technical officials for hockey competitions at the Asian Games.

According to media reports, this was not the first complaint against the Indian official. In 2025, a female umpire had also filed a complaint against Singha during the Hockey India League in Ranchi.

Hockey India subsequently formed a three-member committee to investigate the allegations. However, the committee reportedly found no concrete evidence against Singha during its investigation.
