Global equity funds attract $34.76bn inflows on AI optimism

Summary Global equity funds attracted $34.76 billion as AI investment optimism and softer US inflation boosted demand for stocks despite higher bond yields.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Global equity funds attracted net inflows of $34.76 billion in the week through September 30, marking a second consecutive week of gains as optimism over AI investment and softer US inflation boosted demand for stocks.

The inflow was down from $44.31 billion the previous week. US equity funds attracted $20.6 billion, while European and Asian equity funds received $6.19 billion and $6.16 billion, respectively. Goldman Sachs said major US hyperscalers are expected to spend about $800 billion on capital expenditure in 2026 and $1.1 trillion in 2027.

Sectoral funds recorded net outflows of $919.7 million, including $2.63 billion withdrawn from technology funds after three weeks of inflows. Global bond funds attracted $4.76 billion, while short-term and government bond funds received $5.43 billion and $4.13 billion, respectively.
