Summary Donald Trump accuses Iran of manipulating global oil prices ahead of US midterm elections, citing alleged attacks, Strait of Hormuz threats, and protests.
WASHINGTON (Web Desk) - US President Donald Trump on Thursday accused Iran of attempting to drive up global oil prices ahead of the US midterm elections.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump alleged that Iran was taking steps to increase oil prices, including fabricating reports of attacks and mines in the region.
“Iran is doing everything they can to drive up the price of Oil prior to the U.S. Midterm Election,” he wrote.
He claimed that oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz had increased compared to levels before the conflict began, despite what he described as fabricated reports of attacks and maritime threats.
Trump also accused Iranian authorities of continuing to kill protesters and others opposed to the government, claiming that 75,000 protesters had died in less than seven months.
Reiterating his opposition to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, Trump said Tehran would never be allowed to possess such weapons.
