SANDY SPRINGS, Georgia (Reuters) – Dr. Karenne Fru, a double-board certified OB-GYN and reproductive endocrinologist, opened Muna Fertility earlier this year, a self-funded IVF clinic in Sandy Springs, Georgia. With a state-of-the-art facility spanning over 6,000 square feet, Muna Fertility aims to make infertility care accessible to more families, Fru told Reuters.

Her clinic’s services are especially timely, as President Donald Trump signed an executive order on February 18 to make IVF more affordable. The order emphasizes the importance of reducing treatment costs and ensuring that more Americans have access to reliable and affordable fertility care.

“Americans need reliable access to IVF and more affordable treatment options, as the cost per cycle can range from $12,000 to $25,000,” the order said.

Dr. Fru is excited about the potential benefits of the order, which could open doors for many people to have a family without financial strain.

While Dr. Fru sees the executive order as a positive step, she cautions that true change will require more than just an executive order.

“I am more anticipating what actual legislature comes from this. If this remains an executive order and no laws get signed that codify protections for IVF or increase access to IVF for more people or reduce the costs that are borne by the patient, then all it is, is talk,” Dr. Fru said.

The order directed the President’s assistant for domestic policy to provide a list of policy recommendations aimed at protecting IVF access and lowering costs within 90 days.
