Justice Aminuddin Khan nominated as head of SC constitutional bench

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Judicial Commission of Pakistan nominated Justice Aminuddin Khan as head of the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
The Judicial Commission meeting was chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, where Justice Aminuddin Khan was appointed as the head of constitutional bench by a majority of 7-5 members.
The meeting was attended by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Aminuddin Khan, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan. Additionally, representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council, Advocate Akhtar Hussain, Farooq H Naek, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz and female member Roshan Khursheed Bharucha, were also present.
The formation of a constitutional bench in the Supreme Court was discussed during the meeting. The establishment of a secretariat for the Judicial Commission was also considered.
A seven-member constitutional bench has been formed for 60 days.
For the constitutional bench, Justice Aminuddin and Justice Ayesha Malik were taken from Punjab, while Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi were selected from Sindh.
Justice Jamal Mandokhail and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan were included from Balochistan, while Justice Musarrat Hilali was included from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, PTI leaders Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz opposed the bench under Justice Aminuddin Khan.
