Abbas was removed after issue arose regarding non-listing of benches case
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Additional Registrar of the Supreme Court, Nazar Abbas, was reinstated on Tuesday, according to an office order issued by the Supreme Court's Registrar Office.
The order reinstated Nazar Abbas to his previous role as Additional Registrar Judicial.
Last week, Nazar Abbas, a grade-21 officer, was removed from his role after an issue arose regarding the non-listing of the benches for hearings in the powers-of-benches case, despite a judicial order issued by senior Justice Mansoor Ali Shah led bench.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan following the controversy regarding fixing the case removed Additional Registrar (Judicial) Nazar Abbas from his post.
A notification issued by Additional Registrar (Administration) stated that Nazar Abbas had been made an officer on special duty (OSD).
According to the statement, Abbas was found guilty of a blunder by scheduling a constitutional bench case for hearing before a regular bench.
The notification further stated that the additional registrar’s action wasted court’s and litigants' time and resources. The registrar of the Supreme Court has been directed to examine the matter.
