Fazlur Rehman said government should not make rules for journalists
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced full support for journalists against the controversial PECA.
Addressing a Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists gathering in Islamabad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that this law was actually weak.
The JUI chief said he always said the government should not make a code of conduct for journalists, but rather give this task to them. "If the government makes a code of conduct for the media, it will keep its objectives in it. A few months ago, an evil act was introduced in the name of 26th Amendment. We fought against it," he said.
"We have kept the opposition together with mutual trust and are moving forward," he added.
