NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – The Government of India has instructed all its citizens in Iran to leave the country immediately, following escalating tensions and warnings from the United States and other nations about a potential military strike.

According to Indian media, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a diplomatic advisory urging all Indian nationals—students, travellers, businesspeople, and religious pilgrims—to return home without delay.

The statement advised that if returning directly to India is not feasible, citizens should exit Iran via available transport, including commercial flights, and relocate to a safe third country.

The MEA emphasised that the advisory is in response to the rapidly evolving security situation in Iran. Indian embassy officials in Tehran have also cautioned citizens to exercise extreme care, avoid large gatherings or demonstrations, and monitor local media reports closely.

The embassy further urged Indians to maintain regular contact, keep passports and identity documents readily accessible, and utilise emergency assistance hotlines and registration links provided by the embassy if needed.

Indian authorities estimate that approximately 10,000 of their citizens are currently residing in Iran. The government stressed that prompt compliance with the advisory is crucial for safety amid potential regional instability.
