MOSCOW (Shahid Ghumman) - Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, has warned that the world is undergoing a major geopolitical and political transformation, with the old global order collapsing and fierce competition emerging over the formation of a new system.

Addressing a session of the Russian International Affairs Council, Lavrov said the ongoing reconfiguration of the global system aims to establish a fair and stable multipolar world. However, he noted that current developments resemble “fragmentation in all respects” rather than organized change.

Lavrov described the global power struggle as reaching a “life-and-death” intensity, highlighting persistent violations of international law. He warned that some countries are making territorial claims without legal justification, posing a dangerous trend for the global system.

He acknowledged tense relations between Russia and Western nations but emphasized that Moscow remains open to dialogue, seeking negotiations based on equality and mutual interests.

Lavrov further noted that alliances like BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization face pressure from powers aiming to maintain dominance.

He urged United States and Israel to immediately halt military actions against Iran, condemning attacks on civilians and infrastructure as unacceptable. Lavrov affirmed Russia’s readiness to mediate in the Middle East to reduce tensions and resolve conflicts diplomatically, criticizing obstacles posed by U.S. and Israeli actions to Gulf-Iran negotiations.
