KARACHI (Dunya News) - New Zealand have defeated Pakistan by five wickets to win the tri-series final.  

The match was played at the National Stadium, Karachi. 

New Zealand chased down the 243-run target for the loss of five wickets in 46th over. Daryl Mitchell scored 57 runs while Latham made 56 runs, helping their side clinch the title. 

Earlier, Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to bat first against the Black Caps in the title clash. 

Will O’Rourke got an early breakthrough when he removed opener Fakhar Zaman for 10 runs in the fourth over. The Green Shirts lost the second wicket in the ninth over when Michael Bracewell sent Saud Shakeel packing for eight runs. 

Nathan Smith displayed impressive activeness as he grabbed the ball with his both hands after Babar pushed at it, removing him for 29.

Captain Rizwan scored 46 runs while Salman Agha made 45 runs.

Will O’Rourke took four wickets while Bracewell and Santner grabbed two wickets each.

Earlier, speaking after the toss, Rizwan said that the national team had been changed. Faheem Ashraf was included in the playing XI in place of Muhammad Hasnain.

They will try to give New Zealand a big target, added the skipper.

On Wednesday, Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha hit magnificent centuries to help Pakistan beat South Africa by six wickets to qualify for the final of the tri-nation ODI series.

Pakistan chased down the 353-run target with an over to spare as Salman Ali Agha smashed a superb 134 off 103 balls, while skipper Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten for 122 off 128 balls.

This was also the highest successful chase for any team against South Africa in ODIs.
