LAHORE (Dunya News) – Some senior players of national team are considering to withdraw from the upcoming tour to New Zealand amid fears of being dropped from squad following the Champions Trophy debacle.

Sources said top management of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was upset over the poor performance showed by the national team in the Champions Trophy.

The upcoming white ball series against New Zealand includes five T20I matches and three ODIs as it is scheduled from March 16 to April 5.

The players are mulling over the withdrawal from the series amid rumours that Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Babar Azam would be dropped from national squad.

Pakistan finished fourth in the Group A of the Champions Trophy as their campaign came to an end with two losses and one no result game.

India beat Pakistan by six wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday evening to qualify for the semi-final of the tournament. It was Pakistan’s second defeat in as many matches in the tournament after they went down to New Zealand in the opening match by 60 runs.
