FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – A policeman was killed and other injured in the firing of unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle in Sadar police jurisdiction, Dunya News reported here on Saturday.

According to police, two Dolphin personnel were on their routine patrol, when they, on suspicion, gave a signal to two bike riders to stop. They, instead of complying with the police order, opened fire on the patrol team.

As a result of their firing, a policeman identified as Asif Imran was killed on the spot, whereas his colleague constable Zahoor received wounds, who was rushed to hospital.

On information, police high-ups reached the spot and started investigation. Punjab IG Dr Usman sought a report on the incident from Faisalabad RPO and paid tribute to the martyred policeman.

CRACKDOWN ON DRUG TRAFFICKERS

Karachi police launched a massive crackdown on drug traffickers in posh areas of the city in order to check use and sale of drugs, and arrested several suspects, Dunya news reported.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior police officers. The raids were carried out in the areas of South Karachi, including Defence and Clifton.

A search operation was also launched in Bokhari Commercial, Badar Commercial, Rahat Commercial and Shehar Commercial. The action was taken on complaints of citizens of the area.
