KARACHI (Dunya News) - A policeman embraced martyrdom and two suspected dacoits died in an exchange of fire in the limits of Pakistan Bazaar Police Station here on Monday.
According to senior police officials, the incident took place near Liaquat Chowk within the limits of Pakistan Bazaar police station, where an exchange of fire took place between the police and the robbers. During the firing, policeman Hassan Ali Jam was martyred.
SSP West said that both armed suspects were killed in the retaliatory action. The police recovered two pistols, a large amount of ammunition and the motorcycle used in the incident from the possession of the suspects.
According to police officials, evidence has been collected from the scene after the incident, while investigations are ongoing into the identities of the deceased suspects, their criminal records, and other aspects.
Sindh IG Javed Alam Odho sought a report on the incident from DIG West. The IG directed for a transparent investigation, a comprehensive review of the police action and an immediate report.
He also paid tribute to the bravery, sense of duty and courage of martyred police officer Hassan, and expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family.
