KARACHI (Web Desk) – There is a twist in the tale of an American woman’s travel to Pakistan after social media friendship with a teenager.

Onijah Andrew Robinson on Thursday reportedly demanded that she be given $3,000 a week and allowed to stay in Pakistan.

The woman, who made it all the way to Pakistan from America in search of boyfriend a few months ago, on Wednesday refused to board the flight for Doha for journey back home.

She created quite a scene when she refused to board the plane despite best efforts of immigration officials at the Karachi airport.

Officials said she overstayed in Karachi after expiry of her visa and an NGO came to her rescue and offered her money and ticket to return.

Officials took her to the flight after clearance but she refused to go back, which delayed Qatar Airways flight (QR 611) to New York via Doha.

Police and Airport Security Force (ASF) escorted her to the departure lounge, officials said, adding she resisted boarding on one pretext or another. The officials could not force her to board the plane due to security protocols, they added.

Robinson, a mother of two, reached Karachi on Oct 11, 2024, after having friendship with 19-year-old Nidal Memon. It is learnt that the boy refused to tie the knot with the woman on family pressure.

It is learnt that police briefly shifted her to a women’s police station but let her go.
