LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) summoned the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) over poor traffic arrangements in Lahore during the cricket matches in the city.

Justice Shahid Karim of LHC conducted the hearing on anti-smog measures being taken by the government.

Several departments submitted their report in the court.

During the hearing, the court showed its reservations over the poor traffic arrangements in Lahore.

“Everyone knew that the Champions Trophy would be played here but no arrangements were made to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in Lahore,” the court remarked.

The court summoned Lahore’s CTO in-person during the next hearing.

Earlier, the court remarked that Punjab is facing the water crisis including Lahore.

Justice Shahid Karim remarked that a ban must be imposed on car washing at homes.

The court directed to impose fine of Rs10,000 on car washing at homes.

The petrol pumps without the water recycle plant should be sealed, the court remarked.

The LHC also showed displeasure over the performance of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

“No project should be initiated without the approval of environment department,” the court remarked.

Later, the hearing was adjourned till Feb 10.
