ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expelled senior leader and member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat from the party.

According to sources, PTI founder Imran Khan has instructed party leaders to revoke Marwat’s basic membership.

Party sources confirmed that a formal notification terminating Marwat’s membership would be issued soon. Following this, he will also be asked to resign from his parliamentary seat.

The development comes after several party leaders reportedly complained to Imran Khan about Marwat’s conduct at a political rally in Swabi on Feb 8.

Sources said concerns were raised over his role at the event, prompting leadership to take action.

However, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali said that he was unaware of the decision to expel MNA Sher Afzal Marwat from the party.

Barrister Gohar stated that he had not received such information from the PTI founder, saying it was an internal party matter.

He added that he followed all directives from the PTI founder, and the government never wanted negotiations to take place in the first place.

The PTI chairman expressed regret, saying it is unfortunate that the opportunity for dialogue was lost.
