CM Maryam inspects different zones of Lahore Development Programme

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday visited various zones of Lahore Development Programme where she reviewed the status of the ongoing project.
She also supervised the various developmental projects in the city and said that like Lahore, the other districts of Punjab would also be given preference to ensure equality.
While talking to the official, she said: “The Lahore Development Program is a plan for the entire populace of Lahore be it poor, rich and middle class.”
CM said under this project, the entire Lahore has been divided into 9 parts so that no area, neighborhood or settlement is left out of the development process.
Elaborating the project’s detail, she said it would be implemented in two phases: In the first phase, development work would be done in six zones and in the second phase, focus would be on three zones. The 9 zones have been named Gulberg, Data Ganj Bakhsh, Samanabad, Shalamar, Ravi, Aziz Bhatti, Nishtar, Wagah and Allama Iqbal zones.
The officials said that out of a total of 450 development schemes in the first phase of the Lahore Development Program, 252 are of WASA and 198 are of Municipal Corporation Lahore. Construction work has been given in 433 schemes while work has also started on 411 development schemes.
It was added that under the program, paving of streets, roads and intersections, laying of drainage and sewer lines, installation of soling and sewer covers would be completed.
Similarly, modern engineering designs and methods are being adopted so that problems of blockage of sewers and drainage would not rise.
