The contempt petition against Imran Khan over long march deviating from its designated location
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing of a contempt of court petition against PTI founder Imran Khan.
A five-member constitutional bench, headed by Justice Amin-ud-Din, will hear the case on March 21.
The federal government had filed the contempt petition against the former prime minister over the May 25, 2022, long march deviating from its designated location and reaching D-Chowk.
During the previous hearing, the court sought the government's response on whether it wanted to pursue the case further. Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s lawyer, Salman Akram Raja, has already submitted a reply.
In 2022, the Supreme Court had allocated a ground for the PTI’s long march, with assurances from Imran Khan’s legal team that the march would remain within the designated area. However, the march, led by Imran Khan, reached Jinnah Avenue on May 26, 2022, where participants allegedly set trees on fire near D-Chowk.
