Summary Russia says it is ready to continue talks with the US to resolve the Ukraine conflict, with Lavrov stressing ongoing diplomacy and blaming Europe for obstructing progress.

ISCO: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that Russia is ready to continue negotiations with the United States to resolve the Ukraine conflict.

Speaking to journalists after his visit to China, Lavrov said Moscow remains committed to agreements reached during the Anchorage summit between Moscow and Washington, which have been repeatedly endorsed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He said Russia had accepted US proposals in good faith during the Alaska meeting, including the recognition of “ground realities” in Ukraine, but noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejects this position and considers Crimea and Donbas as temporarily occupied territories, which Russia disputes.

Lavrov stated that the negotiation process was initiated by former US President Donald Trump and Russian President Putin, but claimed that the current US administration continues and even expands sanctions imposed during Joe Biden’s tenure, although diplomatic ties have not been fully severed.

He accused European leaders in Brussels, Paris, Berlin, and London of obstructing the implementation of agreements.

Lavrov also referred to proposals by French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer regarding the deployment of “stabilization forces” in Ukraine, saying such plans would not be possible without US technical support.

He further reiterated that Russia remains open to dialogue with other countries, including Hungary, and emphasized that President Putin has consistently expressed readiness for negotiations, stressing that talks can only be effective if all parties represent their national interests.
