Renowned revolutionary poet Dr Akash Ansari dies in house fire

HYDERABAD (Web Desk) - Renowned Sindhi poet and intellectual Dr Akash Ansari died on Saturday in ‘mysterious’ house fire in Hyderabad.

According to media reports, the right activist tragically passed away after succumbing to his burns in a house fire.

The fire erupted at his home situated in a private housing society in Hyderabad due to short circuit, said the initial reports.

The flames engulfed his room and he was burnt alive, said the rescue officials.

His son also sustained injuries and he was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

He will be buried in Badin after the legal procedure.

Born in December 1956 in a village near Badin, Dr Akash Ansari was originally named Allah Bakhsh but chose the pen name Akash.

He did MBBS from Liaquat Medical College in 1984 and started his career in medicine.

His notable books of poetry include ‘Adhura Adhura’ and ‘Kaise Rahoon Jala Watan’.

His literary work has been translated into several languages.

He got fame during the dictatorship of Zia ul Haq through his revolutionary poetry.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah paid rich tribute to renowned poet and ordered an inquiry of the fire.
