ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The bodies of three Pakistani nationals who died in Somalia have arrived in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, as arrangements continue to bring them back to the country.

The repatriation process is being coordinated on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with officials working to complete the necessary formalities. The bodies are expected to be transported to Karachi once the required clearances have been secured.

Officials said the bodies of Syed Kashif Umar, Ahmed Ansari and Rafiullah reached Addis Ababa approximately an hour before the latest update. Ethiopian Airlines staff are examining the coffins and reviewing the necessary arrangements before granting final approval for their onward transportation.

The bodies are due to be flown to Karachi, although their departure depends on the completion of the required checks and formalities.

Repatriation efforts

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the relevant authorities to ensure that the bodies are brought back to Pakistan as soon as possible. Officials are maintaining close contact to coordinate the arrangements and expedite the transfer.

The government has assured the families of the deceased that all possible assistance will be provided to facilitate the repatriation process. The prime minister had earlier directed the authorities to take the necessary steps to return the three Pakistani nationals to their homeland.

The latest arrangements involve coordination with Ethiopian Airlines following the arrival of the bodies in Addis Ababa, a key transit point for their onward journey to Karachi.

During the conversation, the prime minister assured him that the government would take the necessary measures to ensure the early return of all three bodies to Pakistan.

The authorities are continuing to coordinate the remaining arrangements, including the airline’s review and approval, before the bodies can depart for Karachi.
