Summary Azerbaijani woman Diana has departed Lahore for Baku on a PIA flight accompanied by Pakistani police officials following her involvement in a Lahore case.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - An Azerbaijani woman, identified as Diana, departed for Azerbaijan from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Sunday under the supervision of Pakistani police officials.

According to sources, Diana travelled to Baku on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-159. Three police officers, including an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) from the Defence area, accompanied her during the departure process and travelled with her to Azerbaijan.

The police team was sent to accompany Diana following a request from the Azerbaijani embassy. The team reportedly included a female police officer along with other officials.

Diana remained under the supervision of the Airport Security Force (ASF) at Lahore airport until her departure. Police officials subsequently completed her boarding formalities and accompanied her onto the flight.

Diana had reportedly arrived at the airport two days earlier intending to travel to Azerbaijan but left the flight and declined to return to her country at that time. She subsequently remained at Lahore airport while arrangements were made for her departure.

The development comes against the backdrop of a case in which Diana had alleged that she was assaulted after being taken to an apartment in Lahore. The allegations were recorded in a statement before a court on Sept. 29.

According to the statement, Diana arrived in Islamabad from Istanbul on Sept. 13 and stayed in Faisalabad for five days before travelling to Lahore. She had planned to visit Skardu but, being alone in the city, contacted acquaintances named Nimra and Muskan.

The statement alleged that Diana later met Muskan at a cafe and subsequently went with her to an apartment. Two other men were allegedly present there.

Diana told the court that she was prevented from leaving the apartment and alleged that she was subsequently subjected to sexual assault. She also alleged that her belongings, including cash and mobile phones, were taken and that she was threatened with consequences if she approached police.

According to the statement, Diana was later taken in a vehicle and eventually pushed out of it. She sought help from people nearby, who contacted the police emergency helpline. Police subsequently reached the location.

Police arrested suspects in connection with the case.

However, the suspects, including Mohsin and Ali Zain, denied the allegations of sexual assault. According to their statements, they had only interacted with Diana socially and claimed that she had stayed at the apartment voluntarily.

The suspects also said Diana had arrived at the apartment through her acquaintances, Nimra and Muskan. They denied having knowledge of allegations against another individual, identified as Ahmed Tanveer.

The case remains subject to legal proceedings, and allegations made by either side have not been treated as established facts unless proven through the relevant legal process.

Diana’s departure for Baku follows the completion of arrangements involving Pakistani authorities and the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission.
