Summary Says BJP often resorts to riots, blasts, or communal tension in states where it seeks electoral gains
(Web Desk) - Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being behind the twin blasts reported in Punjab within 24 hours, alleging that the incidents were part of a pattern of creating unrest ahead of the state Assembly elections next year.
Speaking to the media after paying obeisance at Sri Anandpur Sahib, Mann claimed that the BJP often resorts to “riots, blasts, or communal tension” in states where it seeks electoral gains.
“These blasts mean that the BJP is preparing for Punjab,” he said.
Punjab has witnessed two explosions in a single day, raising security concerns across the state.
The first blast occurred in Jalandhar near the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters, where an explosion involving a scooter triggered panic.
Hours later, another blast was reported near the Khasa cantonment area in Amritsar, close to Army and BSF installations.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav inspected the site where a two-wheeler exploded after it caught fire, near BSF Headquarters, Punjab Frontier last night.
Calling Punjab a peace-loving state, Mann said people had already suffered through difficult periods of violence in the past. He stated that investigations into the incidents were underway and assured that those responsible would be punished.
Describing the BJP as a “communal party”, Mann alleged that after the West Bengal elections, the party had shifted its political focus to Punjab.
“They themselves have said Punjab is their next target. They try to secure votes by spreading fear and creating divisions between communities,” he said.
The chief minister further accused the BJP of using communal polarisation as an electoral strategy in different states.
