Summary Australia sanctions banned BLA and its three militants, citing terrorism links in Pakistan and aiming to block funding and operations.

CANBERRA (Web Desk) – Australia has imposed sanctions on the banned Balochistan Liberation Army and three of its militants.

In an official statement, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said the Balochistan Liberation Army has been involved in terrorist attacks in Pakistan, targeting Pakistani and foreign civilians, key infrastructure and state institutions.

The statement noted that Australia’s commitment to counterterrorism and combating violent extremism remains firm, adding that the sanctions aim to disrupt financial support networks for terrorist organisations and make it harder for them to operate, recruit and spread extremist ideology.

It said Australia will continue working with international partners against networks that pose threats to regional and global security.

The government further stated that any assets, transactions or financial support linked to the sanctioned individuals or organisations will be illegal under Australian law, with violations punishable by heavy fines and up to 10 years in prison.

Australia said the purpose of such measures is to ensure global peace and security.
